This Privacy Policy explains how the arXiv Trend Advisor app ("App") handles information when you use it.
1) Information We Process
When you use the App, you may provide:
- Paper title text
- Paper abstract text
This information is sent to our backend service to generate domain and trend insights, then returned to the App for display.
2) Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect
The App does not request access to sensitive device permissions such as:
- Contacts
- Camera
- Microphone
- Location
- Photos or media library
The Android app currently only requests internet access
(android.permission.INTERNET) so it can call the API.
3) How We Use Information
We use submitted paper title/abstract content to:
- Run AI/domain classification and trend analysis
- Return advisory results in the App
- Improve service reliability and quality
4) Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information.
Data is processed by infrastructure/service providers needed to run the API (for example, hosting providers). Those providers may process technical metadata (such as IP address, request timing, and logs) as part of normal service operation.
5) Data Retention
Submitted text and technical logs may be retained only as long as needed for operations, debugging, security, and legal compliance. We aim to keep retained data minimal.
6) Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7) Children's Privacy
This App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8) Your Choices
You control what text you submit to the App. If you do not want your paper title/abstract processed by the backend, do not submit it through the App.
9) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date.
